Guess who’s writing entries again?
Hellooooo world! I’m back! I’m alive! I exist! I’m using exclamation marks waaaay too much!!!!!!!!!
Welcome to my very first entry of 2008. I hope it will be the first of many, although as skeptics will note, my number of entries has seriously decreased in the past year. But I believe that, with this new home for my blog which is seven kinds of awesome, the problem has now been remedied. So here I am!
It is now Christmas vacation, and I’m seriously enjoying not working all the time. Next semester I’m taking less credit hours so my brain doesn’t explode. Believe me, it came pretty close to happening once or twice…
Tomorrow we’re going to Omaha to celebrate Christmas with my dad’s side of the family. We would have done this 2 weeks ago when Christmas hadn’t already happened, only the weather was supposed to be bad, so all my aunts decided to cancel. Unfortunately, the weather turned out to be just fine, but oh well. We’re doing it tomorrow. It’s all good.
I’m trying hard to think of any wonderful, life-changing news I need to report here, but so far I’m not having much luck. Eldora and i are still doing fine, although she has a weird fettish for shoes lately. She’ll have a whole pile of toys in front of her, but what does she choose to carry around? My shoe! Or Mom’s shoe! At least she doesn’t chew on them.
Oh, I got a keyboard for Christmas! It’s lovely and shiny and has lots of nifty sound effects. I also got a foot massage, the kind you put hot water in and turn on. That was awesome as well, it feels wonderful. My other gifts included a Colbie Caillat CD (she is awesome), a Thai cooking kit (delicious), a new wallet, some Uno cards, and $100 from my grandparents! Good haul, no?
Anyway, I’d better go see what my dog is up to. If she stole one of my sneakers again…
Oh, and my song of the entry is “Bubbly” by Colbie Caillat. Great song, y’all!

Didja miss me?
OK, so get this: it’s Saturday morning. I have a crapload of homework to do, including a monster verb chart for Spanish that I did some monster procrastinating on, an essay for English due Tuesday that I haven’t really started on, and a LOT of random, pointless, German exercises. I have two big, stressful choir concerts this weekend. I have a Spanish presentation to prepare over a movie I fell asleep while watching. And yet … I’m inexplicably, completely, honestly happy.
I really shouldn’t feel this at peace with the world right now, but here I am, lying in bed, the dog sprawled out on top of my feet, smiling like an idiot. (Me, that is, not the dog. She is sleeping.) I guess it helps that I have music on. Craig David’s voice is yummy. And I have made considerable progress on the verb chart.
Anyway, despite the major workload, life is going well. And good news for all of you who care: I’m almost done importing entries from Diaryland, which means that soon you’ll actually get my more recent entries instead of stuff from last year! *Bows at the cheers and applause from the crowd*
Speaking of crowds, I really have half a mind to see if I can perform at a coffee shop somewhere or something. I miss singing so much! And not in choir. It’s not the same for me. Classical singing is great, but–call me a diva, I don’t care–I love doing solos. Pop solos. Duets with Karen are also fun. We should try setting something up.
Speaking of music, I’m going to buy a small keyboard for my dorm room so I can get to some serious song-writing. There are pianos in the fine arts building, but this presents two problems: (a) Inspiration for melodies and/or lyrics strikes me at weird, random moments when said building is not open; and (b) By the time I’ve walked all the way across campus to said building, my inspiration has most likely fizzled and died. So therefore, if I want to actually finish some compositions, a keyboard is a good idea, in my opinion.
Anyway, the verb chart is calling, so I’d better put my nose back to the grindstone. I’ll try–key word, try–to get these entries up soonish. Favorite song of the entry: “Tattoo” by the one and only Ms. Jordin Sparks!

An in-class entry–probably the first of many
Hello! I’m actually writing again after just 3 days! ‘Tis a miracle, no?
As you’ve no doubt surmised from this entry’s title, I’m sitting in class right now, English, to be specific. The others are working on reading logs for the chapters we were to read this weekend, but since the company I ordered my book from finds much pleasure in operating as fast as drunk snails, I have no book and therefore nothing to do. Well, nothing my professor would consider productive, that is.
So today, for the first time since we started going to class, Eldora did a perfect job! She did not chase squirrels, she didn’t get corrected for making a wrong turn, and she didn’t try to snatch tidbits off the ground! Gold star for the puppy! She’s currently lying under my desk with her head on my foot.
Well, it seems that the writing time is nearly over, so I’ll say “Au revoir” for now and see y’all later. My fave song of the entry is “Big Girls Don’t Cry” by Fergie.
Oh, and happy birthday, Beyoncé!!

Saturday morning contemplations
Hello, dear readers! Have I ever discussed with you my feelings about Saturday mornings? I don’t think so.
All my life, I’ve felt that they are a time for sleeping and nothing else, a time to catch up on the rest one has missed throughout the week, a time when only the insane actually get up and do something productive. Well, guys… the transition hasn’t been easy, but here I am, up and alert on a Saturday, writing in this blog.
So why did I drag my lazy self out of bed? Well, my dog needed to relieve herself and could not wait another minute. And I hate to say it, but it’s kind of nice lying here in bed, listening to the birds, knowing that my German homework can wait a few hours because I have time to just chill beforehand.
OK, let’s backtrack a bit since it’s been so long since I’ve written. Again. The first and foremost thing you should know is something I’ve already mentioned in passing: I got my guide dog! Finally, after years and years (literally) of waiting, I have a beautiful, spunky, slightly insane golden retriever named Eldora. She loves people, food, and even cats. She’s wonderful and I love her to pieces, as everyone and their brother who’s read this blog knew I would. But it’s so wonderful having a constant companion walking with me all the time, one who wants to learn and loves to cuddle with my feet when I’m in class. It’s also great when I leave the room for a few minutes, then come back to have her run in joyous circles around me, growling with her stuffed raccoon in her mouth. She is currently curled up in a fuzzy ball on her mat, sharing the laziness of this morning with me. She thankfully sometimes goes back to sleep after she does her business, and doesn’t expect me to play with her right away.
Oh, and you might also have correctly guessed, after my mention of German homework, that I’m back in school! I shall even put my schedule up here so people know when to call me!
I have a class at 9 every day. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday it’s music theory; on Tuesday and Thursday it’s fundamentals of basic musicianship. I also have a class at 10 each day. On Monday through Thursday it’s German; on Friday it’s music recitals. On Monday, Thursday, and Friday, I have a large break from 11 to 2, but on Tuesdays I have piano lessons at 11:30 and on Wednesdays I have voice lessons at 12:25. I then have a class at 2 every day: on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I have Spanish, which goes until 2:50; on the other days I have English, which goes until 3:15. And lastly, I have choir practice on Thursday nights from 7:30 to 9:30. So yeah, I’m quite busy this year.
But that didn’t stop me from reading Harry Potter 7 over the summer, man! That book was totally worth the wait. I flew through it, then had to go back and read it again more slowly. J.K. is such a great author. Her writing style just draws you right in. I couldn’t stop reading on Saturday, and finished at 4:00 the next morning.
And now comes the moment you’ve all been waiting for: the rant on Kelly’s album!! I still hold true to my conviction that all three ladies of DC have separate and distinct styles. Kelly’s songs are either light, fun, and carefree or serious, sweet, and profound. Either way, they’re wonderfully written. Kelly cares less about showing off what she can do with her voice than making her lyrics and concepts understood, and I like that about her. It’s a great CD, y’all. BUY IT!!!
Anyway, I’d better end this rather long entry and try to go back to sleep before Miss Eldora wakes up and starts nudging me with her toys. I’ll reeeeally try to write sooner, but I’m not guaranteeing anything. Oh, and my fave song of the entry is “Say It Right” by Nelly Furtado.

2 days in a row! It’s a miracle!
- I’m listening to: M2M
- Current mood: Relaxed
- Important dates: Tomorrow we’ll see who goes home on American Idol!
Well, hello! It’s a revolution, isn’t it? I’m actually writing entries again!
Not much has changed since yesterday, obviously. I still want a guide dog. I still want HP 7 to come out. So to sum it all up, I still want it to be summer!
Well, Jordin was by far my favorite on A.I. tonight. She rocked the song’s socks off, which is saying something, as it was country. People don’t often rock in country. They… country in country. Wow, that probably made no sense. But she was great, OK? Just take my word for it. I actually agreed with everything Simon said about the contestants tonight, which is kind of surprising. Do I flatter myself when I say I don’t think I’m as mean as he is?
Anyway, just thought I’d make up for my laziness of the past… ever… and try to write at least 3 times a week. I know… quite a tall order for me, but I’ll try! By the way, I’ve raised just under $500 for the NFB so far! If any of the wonderful people who donated on my behalf are reading this, I present you with an E-chocolate bar!
On a much more serious note, here’s my parting thought: MY HEART GOES OUT TO VIRGINIA. (My sister’s friend knows people who go there.)

A survey!
- I’m listening to: The original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson!
- Current mood: Hungry
- Important dates: I dunno
Hi again! I have decided that in compensation for not updating in so long, I shall do 2 entries in one day. Well, technically this is just a survey I pirated off of MySpace, but I thought it was funny. Basically, you put your music library on shuffle and write the song titles as answers to the questions. Here are my extremely scientific findings!<
- How are you feeling today? “When I Get There,” Dream
- Will you get far in life? “How Can I Be Down?”, Toya (Depending on the way you interpret this, it could be a good thing…)
- How do your friends see you? “Release Me,” Blaque (OK, y’all, we need to have a talk…)
- Will you get married? “What Hurts the Most,” Rascal Flatts (Somehow that doesn’t sound promising…)
- What is your best friend’s theme song? A medley of songs from Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (Hahahahaa, wonder who this describes? *cough*Mary*cough*)
- What is the story of your life? “Feelin’ the Same Way,” Norah Jones
- What was high school like? “You Don’t Mean Anything,” Simple Plan (Haha, too true)
- How can you get ahead in life? “Fun Fun Fun,” The Beach Boys (Yes! I’m liking this!)
- What is the best thing about your friends? “The Strong Badia National Anthem,” Strong Bad (Ummmmm…)
- What is in store for this weekend? “Me Vs. the World,” Halo Friendlies (Ooh, that doesn’t sound too cool…)
- To describe your grandparents? “I See Right Through To You,” DJ Encore
- How is your life going? “I Love Life,” Melissa Lefton (That, my friend, is awesome.)
- What song will they play at your funeral? “Castles In the Air,” B*Witched (Hey, it’s pretty!)
- How does the world see you? “Before Me and You,” SHeDaisy
- Will you have a happy life? “Stuck,” Stacie Orrico (Um, do I want to know what that means?)
- What do your friends really think of you? “This Is How I Feel,” Earth, Wind and Fire (Well, that doesn’t tell me much.)
- Do people secretly lust after you? “Where Are You,” Natalie
- How can I make myself happy? “Goin’ Downtown,” Dreamgirls Soundtrack (Well, I’ll be on the bus shortly, then!)
- What should you do with your life? “Can’t Stop,” Hanson
- Will you ever have children? “Life Is Wonderful,” Jason Mraz
Well, there you go. See ya later!

Another pattern
- I’m listening to: Mandy Moore
- Current mood: Refreshed from a good sleep
- Important dates: Monday the 15th, apart from being Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, was my daddy’s birthday!
Hello! Now I seem to be developing a pattern of updating only on Wednesdays, huh?
Anyway, I’ve graduated from SISTA and am spending a week at home before I go to college. Hopefully I’ll be able to get something arranged with Mary today, since I haven’t seen her in ages.
Hmmmm, what else can I write about? Oh, my commencement meal went very well! Everyone liked my food, and it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
I watched American Idol last night, and it was great! If I do succeed in buying a reasonably-priced TV for my dorm room, I’m going to watch it all the way through! Oh, and did I tell you that there’s a toll-free number I can call that gives me TV listings?! I personally think that’s the best thing that happened since Dreamgirls!
Well, I suppose that’s all for now. Keep those pointless comments coming, Kaitlin! And whoever else! Parting thought: LOOK AT ME, MISTA, I’M A STAR!!! (Yeah, another quote from Dreamgirls)

2 advertisements and some not-so-life-altering news
- I’m listening to: B*Witched
- Current mood: Moderately content
- Important dates: Sunday the 26th of November was the 1-year anniversary of this diary! I meant to update but was entirely too lazy.
Hi, people! You know, I really love the new version of Internet Explorer because it lets you load several pages at once. So after I was done browsing Amazon, I just tabbed over to my diary page and started writing this lovely entry without having to wait all of 3 seconds for the page to load the normal way! Ain’t that great?
OK, so I started this entry with an advertisement. That’s kind of odd. Oh well.
I expect you’re tired of hearing this, but nothing of vital importance has happened since I last wrote. Oh, wait, I was wrong! (I also expect you’re tired of me contradicting myself.)
Anyway, first of all on the important list, I got the newest version of JAWS!!! Unfortunately, I don’t have the human voices feature yet because it’s separate software that you can’t download from the web, and that also apparently takes forever to be received in the mail. Oh well, the other new features are great as well.
And here I go advertising again…
Anyway, coming in at a close second place on my important list: BeyoncĂ© has a new single out!! Not only that, but she happened to pick my absolute favorite song on the entire album! It’s called “Irreplaceable” and it rocks my socks out of the box of hard knocks!!!! (Don’t ask, I have no idea.)
So, as you can see, I don’t really have much life-changing news to report, but I haven’t updated in a while so I thought I’d pop in and add another entry to my ever-growing amount. And on that note, I think I’ll go to bed now. Parting thought; I COULD HAVE ANOTHER YOU IN A MINUTE! AS A MATTER OF FACT, HE’LL BE HERE ANY MINUTE!!! (If you can’t guess what song those lyrics are from, get right off that computer chair and give me 20!!!)
KD
Another rant
- I’m listening to: This one really really hard rock song Brice has playing.
- Current mood: Craving chocolate
- Important dates: Can’t think of any
Hello, people. I’m at SISTA on lunch break and everything around here is crazy, as usual. We’re preparing for the Thanksgiving buffet tomorrow, so I’ve been cooking all day. I got to inject butter into a turkey with Mike the shop teacher, and he had waaayyy too much fun making slasher movie sound effects to accompany it. It was amusing but also disturbing.
Well, once again, nothing that exciting has happened. I’m still ultra-anxious to go and get a guide dog, despite the disapproval of some people here. See, there’s sometimes lots of hostility between dog users and cane users, mainly because each thinks their way is better. There are extremists either way: some dog users officially give up the cane and don’t believe cane skills are necessary; some cane users think a dog is an inefficient means of travel and advocates too much dependence on someone other than oneself. I, for one, will probably prefer the dog, but I am by no means giving up the cane. I’m going to carry one around with me even when I get a dog.
So there’s KD’s rant of the day.
OK, I’d better submit this entry and gather my stuff because I must cook some more. I’ll try to write later. Parting thought: I WANT A CANDY BAR!!

Musings from the middle of Crazyland
- I’m listening to: Everyone going crazy over football. Lucky me.
- Current mood: Cynical
- Important dates: Today is Nana’s birthday!
Hello all! I’m at a workshop in Omaha with the Commission for the Blind (which, incidentally, is not the same as the Federation OF the Blind because of the oh-so-subtle but very important use of a certain preposition), and I’m waiting to go to this fancy banquet thingy. Everyone around me is totally going psychotic over the football game, which is playing in the hotel lobby. I am so glad I don’t care about whether or not Nebraska wins. I’m the type of person who, if I did care, would be depressed all night if they lost.
So this guy I hadn’t seen in a long time came up to me a few minutes ago and hugged me. Then he proceeded to tell me that I’ve “filled out nicely.” Is that supposed to be a compliment or a perverted remark? And is anyone else reminded of that one issue of Teen Girl Squad…?
Anyway, not much else interesting has happened so far at this thingy. It’s basically been a bunch of sessions where you sit and be bored. Or in my case, download and organize your book collection. Well, some of the sessions were kind of interesting, but I HATE sitting all day! It’s annoying.
I think we basically won the game. Joy. Now everyone will hopefully shut up.
OK, I should really stop typing now because my arm is killing me. (Try typing on your Mpower while it’s dangling off your shoulder.) I’ll see y’all later. Parting thought: I’M NOT SUFFERING FROM INSANITY, I’M ENJOYING IT!!
